A fost o perioadă, când copil eram şi munţii îi cutreieram,
Perpedes sau pe bicicletă, eu doar cu ei să fiu.

De fiecare dată, în locul ce-ajungeam,
O intrebare clară, mereu eu îmi puneam:
Oare ce-o fi dincolo de pădure, de culme sau de deal?

Idei copilăreşti aveam de-atuncea,
O cale de-a vedea ce numai Dumnezeu credeam că ştie.

Dar iată că-ntr-o simplă zi de viaţă ostăşească,
Când descifrasem singur o hartă militară,
Puteam şi eu să văd acum,
Ce este dincolo de pădure, de culme sau de deal!

Întrebări chinuitoare au început din nou s-apară:
Cum şi cine poate să le facă?

A fost nevoie de studiu şi placere,
Ca totul să se-aştearnă în faţa mea de proaspăt absolvent.

Cu munca în campanii,
Pe Mare sau în Deltă,
Pe Munte sau pe Deal,
Cu tehnica în faţă,
Şi cu viziunea spaţială clară,
Puteam şi eu de-acuma,
Să fac ce alţii încercau.

Anii au trecut, vremurile s-au schimbat,
Şi iată că de-odată apare o ofertă
Unirea datelor culese în zilele trecute,
Să scoată România din pata albă în care se găsea.

Cu mintea mea de-acuma, în timp eu m-am întors,
Şi-am zis că posterităţii se merită să-i rămână,
Măcar o părticică din munca ce-am depus-o,
Cu gândul la clipa de-a cunoaşte,
Un alt copil ce acuma ar vrea să înţeleagă:
Ce este dincolo de pădure, de culme sau de deal.

1967 – 2006
Surprins mereu de lipsa apariţiei cuvântului “România” din baza de date a echipamentelor de tehnica de calcul, ajung întotdeauna la aceeaşi concluzie: “Iar nu am făcut nimic pentru a fi luaţi în seamă”. Oare trebuie să abordăm tot timpul această poziţie de a aştepta de la alţii ceea ce am putea şi noi să facem?
Până acum am constatat că ceea ce au făcut cei dinaintea noastră ne-a adus la situaţia în care ne aflăm. Întrebarea este: “Noi ce facem”? Le vom moşteni neputinţa, nepăsarea, ignoranţa, delăsarea?

Dacă în sfârşit avem ocazia de a avea acces la tehnologie modernă, cu posibilitatea de obţinere a informaţiilor din diverse domenii, oare nu putem oferi aceste date pentru binele nostru al tuturor?

Trăim într-o lume unde interesul propriu este primordial. “Eu” şi numai “eu” sunt cuvinte cheie. Atunci când ai nevoie de un lucru şi nu ai posibilitate de a-l obţine, parcă simti nevoia să ai un sprijin. Dacă te afli în situaţia în care eşti mai “norocos” decât alţii, oare n-ar fi bine să-i ajuti şi pe ceilalţi?

Am avut “şansa” să obţin informaţii geospaţiale din diferite surse de date. Vorbim aici doar de informaţii produse în scop personal.

Unele dintre ele au rezultat printr-un efort financiar, altele printr-un efort depus într-o perioadă în care poate mai normal ar fi fost “să merg la iarbă verde”.
A mai fost şi situaţia în care datele au fost obţinute relativ uşor, datorită faptului că mi-am impus un anumit regim de lucru. Nu mi-a fost deloc greu ca-n diverse deplasări prin ţară, să setez receptorul GPS să stocheze date în mod automat. Nu mi-a fost greu nici să marchez puncte în mod manual.

De ce toate acestea? Poate din dorinţa de a avea ceea ce alţii nu-mi puteau oferi. Cu trecerea timpului s-au strâns destule informatii care m-au ajutat în diverse scopuri practice. Acum observ că aceste date ar putea ajuta şi pe alţii.
M-am hotărât să particip cu tot ceea ce este produs de mine în scop personal la implementarea “Proiectului România Digitală”.

Poate ar fi fost mai bine să ţin cont de zilele în care traim. “Vezi-ţi de propriu interes!. Ai grijă numai de tine!”. Dar nu…!

M-am hotărât să ies din acest şablon. Spre bucuria mea observ că mai sunt şi alţii care au procedat la fel. Suntem deosebiţi…? Cel puţin suntem altfel!
Ce să fac cu toate datele? Să leţin doar pentru mine? Să obţin profit maxim? Poate!

Dar eu deja m-am hotărât! Le ofer… şi le ofer din tot sufletul!

Mereu îmi aduc aminte: “Ce bine ar fi fost ca acum 10 ani să fi avut astfel de date”. Acum mă simt ca şi cum aş primi aşa ceva!

On foot and on bike just to hang around

Each time I reached a place,
A clear question would emerge:
What is over the wood, the peak or the hill?

Childish ideas I had back then,
A way that only God could have known.

But in a simple day of soldier�s life,
When, alone, had understood a military map
I could see now,
What is over the wood, the peak or the hill!

Tormenting questions have appeared:
How and who can make them?

It needed study and a lot of passion,
For all to come in front of a fresh graduate.

Working in campaigns,
On the sea or in the Delta,
In the mountains or on the hills,
With techniques all over
And with a clear spatial vision,
I could finally accomplish,
What others were experimenting.

Years have passed, times have changed,
And there�s an offer
Gathering information in the past days,,
To pull Romania out of the old ways.

With what I know now,
I told posterity it deserved to stay with it,
At least a part of our hard work,
Thinking about knowing,
That another child is keen to understanding:
What is over the wood, the peak or the hill..

1967 – 2006
Always surprised that the word “Romania” is lacking in the data base of equipments of computer technologies, I always come up to this one and only conclusion: “We still haven�t done anything to be taken into consideration”.
Do we always have to wait from the others for what we can do for ourselves?
So far we have come up to that point when we realize that what the others did is responsible for our situation today. The question is:”What do we do?” Will we inherit their impotence, their carelessness, ignorance and neglect?
If finally we are able to have access to a modern technology, with possibility of obtaining information in various fields, won�t we be able to offer this data for the sake of all of us?
We live in a world where own interest comes first. “Me” and only “me” are key words. When one needs something and has no availability in obtaining that thing, one feels like needing help. If one is in the situation of being “luckier” than others, wouldn�t be great helping the others?
I had the chance of obtaining geospatial information from different data sources. We are talking here only about products for personal purpose.
Some of them came through a financial effort, the others through an effort from a period where it would have been normal to get out more. There has been also the situation when data came across easily, because of the fact I imposed a certain duty. It wasn�t hard that moving through the country I would set the GPS receiver to stock data automatically. It wasn�t hard to manually mark points either.
Why all of this? Maybe out of the wish of having something that others can�t give to me.
In time, a lot of information was gathered, helping me in different practical stages. Now I can note that these pieces of information could help other people too.
I decided to participate with all my creations for personal use at the implementation of “Digital Romania Project”.
Maybe I should have remembered the days we are living in. “Watch your own interest! Take care of yourself!”
But it didn�t work!
I�ve decided to step out of the clich�s! To my surprise, there are others who did the same. Are we special? At least we are different!
What to do with all the data? Keep it for myself? Obtain maximum of profit? Maybe!
But I have already made up my mind! I�m giving them away�and I�m giving them with all my heart!
I always remember: “It would have been great if I had had this data 10 years ago”. Now I feel like receiving such a thing!
