RO.A.D.2026.05 Launch

RQA, a Garmin technology dealer in Romania, has the pleasure to announce the availability of the new edition of the Digital Atlas of Romania v18.05, RO.A.D.2026.05.

Continuing in the well known tradition for the Romanian Garmin customers, the Digital Atlas of Romania holds on to the number one place in the GPS road navigation map charts by bringing an extra 5,502.74 km of roads up to a grand total of 484,184.15 km and the number of POIs raises in this edition to a staggering 1,021,489 points divided into 538 categories.

RO.A.D.2026.05 is the only GPS navigation map in the world that combines topographic details with a routable road network – including dirt roads and trails – with postal addresses of unequaled precision, towns with extruded 3D blocks of flats and detailed 3D textured models for both old patrimony buildings and new skyscrapers, true landmarks of today’s urban space. Map updates are constant and consistent from one edition to another and are documented in the Map Diaries, where all the contributions and their respective authors are mentioned together with the names of the cities and the map tiles that have changed.

Compared to other maps on the market, the Digital Atlas of Romania offers unparalleled detail, coverage, and timeliness. This edition includes the missing sections of the A7 motorway, Section 1, Lots 2 and 3 between Pietroasele and Buzău, together with the road junction at the intersection with the DN2, the A7 motorway, Section 3, Lot 1 between Focşani and Pufeşti, together with the road junction at Tişiţa and the service areas at Vânători and Moviliţa, the A7 motorway Section 3 Lots 1 and 2 from Pufeşti to Adjud, together with the road junctions at Pufeşti and Adjudu Vechi and the service area at Adjud, the DN69A road connecting the E671 and the A1, the Zalău ring road, the Oşorhei overpass, the Sânmartin – Oradea Metropolitan Ring road, the new bridge over the Mureş River in Ciugud, the Italsofa overpass in Baia Mare, the Solventul overpass in Timişoara, the railway overpass in Brăneşti, the cable-stayed bridge over the Mureş River in Arad, the new bridge over the Tisa River to Ukraine in Sighetu Marmaţiei, the final configuration of the Cluj Regional Hospital Overpass in Floreşti, the Orizontului breakthrough in Bacău, and traffic has been restored on the rebuilt bridge in Luţca. Detailed access has been added to Nokian Tyres Oradea, Greenwee International, the Prologis logistics centers, Bucharest West Park, Mega Designers Outlet, the Lidl logistics center in Cordun, VGP Park Braşov, and to the Craiova International Airport. The Holcim Aleşd, Crăciunelu de Sus and Blaj marshalling yards, the Dacia tram marshalling yard in Iaşi and the Sighetu Marmaţiei railway station marshalling yard have also been added.

The runways of the Copalnic-Mănăştur, Săcălăşeni, Frătăuţi, Zăneşti, Dumbrava Roşie, Girov, Nadab, and Sibiu airfields have been added, and the appearance of the runways at Oradea International Airport has been updated. The golf course at the National Golf & Country Club in Niculeşti was mapped, and the Terra Dacica and Terra Saxonum routes from Via Transilvanica were added to L35-061.

Detailed access was added to Altex Calea Stan Vidrighin and Hornbach Calea Buziaşului in Timişoara, Nest Oradea Calea Borşului 2C, Kaufland Aiud, Kaufland Blaj, Jysk Ploieşti, Pepco Periş, Lidl Bolintin-Vale, Kaufland Bdul Regele Mihai in Baia Mare, Kaufland and Takko Caransebeş, Jysk Valea Cascadelor in Bucharest, Dedeman Arad 2, Penny Drăgaicii in Buzău, Penny Marginea, Lidl Bulevardul Republicii Roman, Kaufland Mihai Viteazul Roman, Annabella Călimăneşti, Dedeman Braşov, Lidl Libertăţii 31 in Apahida, Cub Shopping Center in Câmpulung, Penny Tălmaciu, Jumbo and Prima Shopping Center in Sibiu, Penny Cobadin, Jumbo and Altex Megastore in Brăila, and access to Roman Value Center and Lidl Mihai Viteazul Roman has been updated. Many new one-way streets, speed restrictions, and 51 (fifty-one) new roundabouts have been added.

For history enthusiasts, this edition includes the detailed elements (points, ditches) of the Eneolithic fortified settlement of Cucuteni in Războieni – Dealul Mare, detailed elements of the Bronze Age fortresses at Ţibucani-Dealul la Cetăţuie (points, ramparts, ditches) and Rădeni-Dealul la Cetăţuie (points, ramparts, ditches), as well as the Bronze Age fortified settlement at Rădeni-La Şanţ, detailed elements (ditches, walls, buildings) of the Roman camp at Cincşor-Cetate, detailed elements (point, wall, ditch) of the ROMAN-ERA TOWER AT PERIŞOR – PONOARĂ ÎN VÂRF, the ROMAN-ERA TOWER AT PERIŞOR – TURNU POPII/COROBANĂ, the Roman burgus at Ciceu-Giurgeşti-Valea Mestecănişului, the Roman tower at DUMBRĂVENI-VÂRFUL RUNCULUI, and the Roman tower at ZAGRA – DEALUL LUPULUI. Additions were made to the Roman rampart at Igriş based on the Josephine survey of Banat, and detailed elements (points, ramparts, ditches) of what appears to be a Roman fort at Igriş were mapped. The medieval fortress at Gădinţi was relocated.

Various other heroes’ comemorative monuments from the two world wars have been mapped as well.
